Call Center Handles 10,000,000th Call

Finger Lakes Business Services, Inc. Achieves Milestone

SYRACUSE – Today at 8:46 am, Finger Lakes Business Services, Inc. received their 10,000,000th call since it’s founding in 2002.

As recognition of this milestone, the company presented a 26″ LCD flat screen HDTV to Bonnie Johnson, the operator who handled that call. Bonnie has been with Communications Group since 1991, which is prior to the acquisition by Finger Lakes Business Services, Inc. in 2003. Finger Lakes Business Services President Gardner McLean said, “it is especially rewarding to be able to recognize Bonnie, as she is one of our senior Customer Service Leaders, a role that involves handling calls, supervising others, and dealing with personnel and client issues.”

The 10,000,000 calls are comprised of many different types of calls for a variety of companies. Calls have ranged from after-hours emergencies to be handled by a client’s on-call staff to orders for an internet-based client. Finger Lakes Business Services customers include apartment complexes, funeral homes, health care professionals, crisis lines, professional services (accountants, financial organizations, lawyers), small offices (virtual receptionist services), and various contractor trades (plumber, electrician, HVAC contractor, etc.). Each account is customized in the manner prescribed by the client so it allows the call center to handle calls when the clients are not available.

McLean, who is a Skaneateles resident, is the president of both companies while Cicero resident Ray Schremp serves as vice president and co-owner. Finger Lakes Business Services employs 40 people at the Auburn and Syracuse locations. Communications Group (Syracuse) was founded in 1965 as a local answering service and was acquired by Finger Lakes Business Services, Inc. in 2003. The sister company, Finger Lakes Answering Service (Auburn), was founded in 1990 as an answering service and was purchased by Finger Lakes Business Services in 2002. Both offices were awarded the 2005 and 2006 ATSI Award for Service Excellence. Finger Lakes Answering Service was recognized in 2006 as the Cayuga County Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year.
